Ash Gibson Greig is an award-winning music composer based in Perth, Western Australia. Since 2003 Ash has composed and produced music extensively for film, television and theatre, working in a large variety of genres.
Ash’s television work has screened in Australia and around the world, and includes the Australian series of Who Do You Think You Are, Desperately Seeking Doctors, Time Trackers, and the documentaries Death of the Megabeasts, Skippy: Australia’s First Superstar, Great Escape: The Reckoning, SAS: The Search for Warriors, Leaky Boat, A Royal Romance and Jandamarra’s War.
Ash has worked with many theatre companies around Australia. Recent works includes: The Trial with Malthouse Theatre, Sydney Theatre Company and Thin Ice; The Clean House with Black Swan State Theatre Company and Queensland Theatre Company; Aesop’s Fable with Barking Gecko Theatre Company; The Danger Age with Deckchair Theatre Company; and Heart of Gold: The Musical.
Ash’s film work includes award-winning short films such as Iron Bird, Professor Pebbles, My Uncle Bluey and Tinglewood. Ash has also composed for four independent features (The Actress, Plum Role, No Through Road and Congoro) and the upcoming feature Big Momma’s Boy, to be released in cinemas in June.
Ash’s has been nominated for his film, TV and theatre work at awards including the APRA / Australian Guild of Screen Composers Awards (short films Iron Bird and Professor Pebbles, series Who Do You Think You Are, and documentary Death of the Megabeasts), the Green Room Awards (The Trial), The W.A. Screen Awards (Gallipoli’s Submarine, Who Do You Think You Are, Saving Andrew Mallard, The Actress, Boxing Day, Here Comes the Breeze) and The Equity Guild Awards (Heart of Gold: TheMusical). Iron Bird, Gallipoli’s Submarine, and Boxing Day won their respective categories.
